ANCWL Urges Communities to stand Against Gender Based Violence
15/09/2015

The ANC Women's League would like to note and welcome the court case proceedings that are course on the matter against Ms. Sindisiwe Manqele, the women accused of killing former hip hop artist Mr. Nonkululeko "Flabba" Habedi who were allegedly in a relationship.

It is also with great concern and disappointment to learn of the case against one of our ANC Youth Leader, Mr. Patrick Wisani, Branch Chairperson for ANCYL who allegedly beat his girlfriend to death with a sjambok.

The ANC Women's League remains resolute and unshaken in the belief of a society free from all kinds of abuse, crime and acts of injustice against any form of human kind.

More so that we should take lead at the front through noble illustrations, even if such acts are committed by our very own leaders or members of the African National Congress we still remain unshaken and believe that if found guilty in the eyes of the law, fibrous measures should be tightened at all levels against such insidious acts.

We have noted the high number of deaths that occur on a daily basis on gender based violence, and urge that more educative platforms on this, be prioritised towards a radical transformation of a society free from this infested malady.

We reiterate that this is not only a concern for the ruling body or the law enforcers, but practical participation by members of the community should be engaged in eradicating this matter.

Based on the notion of one is innocent until proven guilty, the ANCWL would like to thank the law justice in ensuring that proceedings are run without any form of injustice or unfair trial, but urge that stringiest measures be exercised at the highest level against the guilty.

We would like to place our heartfelt condolences to both families of the bereaved and that they may find peace and hope in such trying times.
