The Provincial Executive Committee Meeting Outcomes
1/06/2015
Dakota Legoete

The Provincial Executive Committee held its ordinary PEC meeting on the 30th May 2015 in Rustenburg, which was preceded by the induction of the PEC by our national leadership. We emerged unequivocal with one voice that an attack on our leadership in this regard, our chairperson Cde. Supra Mahumapelo is an attack on the ANC in the province. There is an attempt from an unscrupulous selfish business forum that wants to deligitimise the provincial chairperson as the leader of the ANC and wants to project him as a generally corrupt person in a public opinion trial without following the rule of law. We call on the security agencies to strengthen the safety of our Provincial Chairperson.

We call on all our structures to defend their communities against the growing civil disobedience which happened around Mahikeng where unfortunately normal schooling and provision of basic services was disrupted by violent anarchic elements. We further call on law enforcement agencies to follow up on the perpetrators of these violent acts and bring them to account.

The PEC welcomes the Minister of Police report on Nkandla and openly request parliament to finally close the matter. It is our believe as the province that the President and his family have done nothing wrong and the matter must be closed and forge ahead with our focus on creating a better society. What has happened regarding everyone who handled pertaining to the private residence of Nkandla should be lessons learnt for all of us as South Africans.

We also welcome the completion of the Marikana Commission report. It is our believe that the President must be given space to study the report in order to developed well thought approach to inform its implementation. Our view as a province is that the report must be the basis for lessons to be learned by our community and the report must further be used as a way to Reconcile, Heal and Renew the people of South Africa in general and the NW province in particular. We call on all South Africans to use the report to build a better society united in our diversity.

The PEC would like to further thank all the people of the Province and South Africa for a befitting and dignified funeral accorded to our mother, leader, and Seaparankwe Mama Ruth Segomotsi Mompati in Naledi.

The Province has established elections structures throughout the Province in preparation for the 2016 Local Government Elections and has appointed Cde. Matthew Wolmarans as the Provincial Elections Coordinator.

The PEC is now empowered to supervise the work of our organs in government so that we can improve on service delivery challenges facing our people and have a more improved way to communicate these challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality created by more than three and half centuries of apartheid regime.

The PEC resolved to request all members of the PEC to declare their business interests with ANC Provincial Integrity Committee in an effort to deal with issues of ethics and integrity. The Integrity Committee will start a programme to workshop all the ANC Structures & ANC Public Office Bearers such as Councillors, MP's and MPL's.

We wish congratulate all ANC led municipalities in the province for successfully presenting their budgets and IDP's which are aimed at achieving the radical socio economic transformation. At the same time we are aware of dark forces opposed to radical economic changes to the benefit of those who have been economically marginalised. We call on the Provincial Government to intensify the radical socio economic programme through the Villages Townships and Small Dorpies Economies through the Setsokotsane programme.

The PEC would like to congratulate Gift Kelehe for winning the 2015 Comrades marathon in Pietermaritzburg yesterday. We would also like to congratulate the Kelehe family for having produced the athletes who have placed our Province on the map after his brother Andrew won the same marathon in 2001. Our youth in the Province should learn from this champion and refrain from activities which bring social ills to our society.
