FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON SAPA WIRES

ANC NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON THE BURNING OF ANC T-SHIRT AT TLOKWE

The African National Congress (ANC) condemns the burning of the ANC T-Shirts by some alleged members and supporters of the ANC in the Tlokwe district.

This kind of behaviour by these councillors vindicates the ANC and confirms the correctness of the decision to expel these ill-disciplined councillors by the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC).

We maintain our earlier position that we do not recognise the removal of the Mayor of Tlokwe as the Council meeting which took the decision was irregular.

The ANC is committed to make the lives of the people of Tlokwe and South Africa in general better. We remain committed to the five key priority areas as contained in the ANC election manifesto.

The ANC is the only political party which has the aspirations of the people of South Africa at heart. This was confirmed by the overwhelm support that we continue to receive from the majority of the people of South Africa.

We call upon the loyal members of the ANC to isolate these individuals whose pre- occupation is to tarnish the good name and reputation of the ANC. The ANC distances itself from any form of association with individuals who are self-seeking, anarchists and agent provocateurs, who will stop at nothing to ridicule the ANC.

The leadership of the ANC will convene meetings with the people of Tlokwe to clarify its decision on the expulsion of these ill-disciplined members. The announcements and details of these meetings will be convened through legitimate ANC structures.
