ANC Women's League Encourages Women to safeguard against cancer
23/10/2014
Cde Meokgo Matuba

As we remember the late passing of our fellow member of the Provincial Executive Committee in the ANC Women's League, Cde Mokgadi Dlamini who died of the dreadful disease of breast cancer during this month of October.

Never again shall we allow such to happen that we lose a dearly committed, sound revolutionary assert that was very influential in the work of the organisation, and even many who could have and have contributed in the second transition towards a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous society.

The ANC Women's League stands united in the North West in encouraging and motivating members of the community, particularly women of all age to combat and safeguard themselves against this painful, blood sucking disease.

In the October month breast cancer has been placed as the primary focus with a lifetime risk of 1 in 35 in South Africa, according to the 2007 National Cancer Registry. It is the most common cancer in all women of all races.

Our role to defend and protect the wellbeing of all human nature has not only been centred in the political dispensation but also on the health necessities that every person deserves a better life.

We urge women and all to visit their nearest health care centres and do regular screenings in order to reduce their risk of cancer or the recurrence of cancer.

We not only propel women to arrange for clinical breast examinations but also request women to perform monthly self-examinations to reduce the risk of cancer.

We appreciate programmes put in place in raising awareness of this decease, such as CANSA and Phakamisa Navigation programme, and many others meant to assist women in shedding light and educate them about preserving their positive lifestyles.

We women should support, educate, carry each other and strengthen each other to fight the war against such deceases.

Strength in unity! Amandla!
