STATEMENT OF THE ANC NORTH WEST SPECIAL PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN MAFIKENG
1/07/2014
Dakota Legoete

Yesterday, 30 June 2014, the ANC North West Provincial Executive Committee met in a special meeting in Mafikeng. The meeting considered amongst others; election report; our preparedness for the forthcoming by-elections and the hosting of Nelson Mandela day on the 18 July 2014.

On the Election report: The PEC commended the good work that was done by Setsokotsane election campaign. This campaign trail took the leadership of the ANC closer to its constituencies. It assisted both members of the communities and the ANC to take stock of service delivery progress and challenges in various parts of our province. Through the Setsokotsane programme the leadership was able to identify challenges faced by our community members ranging from; lack of water, sanitation, bad roads and incomplete RDP houses.

Noting our performance in some municipalities, the PEC recognised that this requires that we put greater effort in maintaining contact with and addressing concerns of our support base. Also the ANC must reconnect with the minority group who felt neglected by the ANC.

However the ANC is thankful for the support from its leaders, members, volunteers, alliance partners and the broader society.

On the ANC preparedness for the forthcoming by-elections, our election machinery is well prepared and oiled for the forthcoming by-election in all the five wards that we will be contesting on the 13 of August 2014. The ANC is content that we will emerge victorious once more because our people will vindicate us by ensuring an overwhelming victory during these by-elections.

On the hosting of Nelson Mandela day, the PEC is excited and ready to host Nelson Mandela day on the 18 of July in Mafikeng in line with the State of the Nation Address by President Jacob Zuma, that as a nation we should embark on a cleaning campaign. The activity is a national event and as result there will be build up activities in the province that will culminate into the main event on the 18 of July .We urge all mass democratic movement in our province to support the Nelson Mandela activities that will be taking place throughout this month.
