ANC WOMEN'S LEAGUE NOTED SLANDEROUS SONG AGAINST OUR CHAIR COMRADE SUPRA MAHUMAPELO

African National Congress Women's League in Bokone Bophirima has noted the attempts by a group of business people only who become politician when business does not go their way, to tarnish the good image of the provincial Chairperson of the ANC and also the Premier Cde Supra Obakeng Mahumapelo.

We have noted a slanderous recording in a form a song which has been circulating in the social media. The defamatory song is said to be attributed to North West Business Forum which is known to be representing a group of business people and not pseudo musicians with vulgar tones.

We call on the North West Business Forum to remove the masquerade and become politicians to that we treat them accordingly or continue with the business of tendering where they will be accorded an opportunity to operate if they qualify in terms of the legislated conditions set for business operating in this government. We are not afraid to challenge such characters in a political platform and defeat them as we defeated all those opposed to the ANC through the ballot since 1994.

In 1994 ANC brought democracy to the land where people could not even raise a finger against atrocities of the past government. The democracy we brought gives anybody the right to approach structures set by government to raise any allegation of corruption or maladministration against any individual in government. The same group which recorded a defamatory song also have an opportunity to enjoy that right. They however chose to record a song and agitate the community who have been receiving the song through social media. This indicates that the move is sinister and not genuine.

Such practices represented by the group are tendencies of people who always emerge in the year towards the elective conference of the ANC which is to be held later this year. We do not sing defamatory songs if we want to challenge or raise issues that concern us unless there is an ulterior motive which has nothing to do with genuine concerns of the people.

We understand and appreciate the good work done by the Premier of the North West and there is no defamatory song which is going to make us change our stance. Through his premiership Comrade Supra Mahumapelo has introduced the Villages Township and Small Dorpie (VTSD) which has been applauded in the business cycles as a good and progressive concept.

The Introduction of Kgetsi Ya Tsie bursary scheme is also a sign that the Premier is very much concerned about the plight of the students from poor background. He is the only Premier who have introduced the Setsokotsane program which has seen changing lives of many of our people.

The ANC Women's League can only come to conclusion that our people are happy about the performance of our provincial government led by Comrade Supra Mahumapelo and they are not going to be deterred by any song spiced by defamatory and slanderous larynx.
