STATEMENT ON THE OUTCOME OF ANC BOKONE BOPHIRIMA PEC OFFICIALS' MEETING

Officials of the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) and the Provincial Working Committee (PWC) of the People's Province of Bokone Bophirima held and ordinary meeting yesterday (Monday 26 September 2016) and resolved as follows:

The province's leadership thanked the Luthuli Detachment Veteran, Ntate Simon Senna, for hosting us at his homestead.

The meeting congratulated Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela on her 80th birthday and thanked her for the role she played in the struggle for the liberation of our country.

The meeting agreed to convene a Provincial Alliance Economic Summit, preceded by an Alliance Council, to assess our province's performance in the August 3 local government elections.

The meeting also agreed on a set of proposals to be made on economic and organizational issues for the 2017 National Conference of the ANC as part of the Rebranding, Repositioning and Renewal of the organization.

All ANC Branch Executive Committees (BECs) will hold weekly political education classes on Mondays. For a smooth implementation of this resolution, the meeting appointed a team of over 50 ANC cadres to be responsible for conducting Branch Political Education Classes. The ANC Officials' meeting resolved that all the ANC Regional Conferences must be completed by the end of November 2016.

The Monday meeting resolved to undertake a radical review on the nomination of candidates for future elections. The Officials and PWC members agreed that a programme to rerun the less than 15 branches affected by councillor nomination disputes must completed by December 2016.

Disciplinary action must be sped up on leaders who are accused of manipulating the process to select candidates during the list processes for local government elections.

As from the beginning of November 2016, it will be non-negotiable for all councillors to hold monthly community meetings as required by the ANC to keep in touch with communities. All the ANC Municipal Caucuses will also hold political classes on a monthly basis.

The meeting applauded all the councillors for respecting and upholding ANC mandates during the election of troikas and executives in councils.

The Officials and PWC meeting urged the Provincial Government to ensure that the election of the Speaker of Rustenburg Local Municipality is done afresh because it did not fully comply with the law. The ANC instructs the Speaker to resign in order for the election process to be corrected. The ANC will however put forward the same candidate for election as the Speaker because we as the party still have confidence in the comrade to hold the position. What we need is a doubtless process that instills confidence among our people that the ANC remains committed to the rule of law.

The meeting applauded the Provincial Government for good initiatives and achievements that focus on radical transformation of the Villages, Townships and Small Dorpies' (VTSD) economies as one of the five economic concretes to uplift the province. The ANC also congratulated the Provincial Government for embarking on a process to establish VTSD-based People's Chambers of Commerce.

The ANC welcomes the decision by The Presidency to hold the National Reconciliation Day in Bokone Bophirima on 16 December 2016.

We applaud the Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development (READ) for initiating the unprecedented Bio-Diversity Conference and the Agricultural Growth and Investment Lekgotla.

The meeting applauds the people of Bokone Bophirima for ensuring continuous stability in the province. It is because of each and every citizen's contribution that we are able to work together to move Bokone Bophirima forward.
