ANC MEDIA STATEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE DA'S DESPERATE ATTEMPTS TO LURE BOKONE BOPHIRIMA VOTERS

The ANC in Bokone Bophirima notes with disgust the desperation shown by the Democratic Alliance (DA) in the province. In its extreme anxiety to make it into newspapers and other media platforms, the DA makes unfounded allegations about the ANC-led provincial government, claims that they know very well carry no value because they're pure lies.

The DA leader in the province Joe McGluwa should start by acknowledging that it is the same ANC-led government that has provided him with the freedom of expression to speak his mind and the freedom of association, which gives him an opportunity to be wearing the DA blue today and lead a party with people he could never have dreamt of co-leading with in the past.

It is rather cheeky for McGluwa to claim that real freedom cannot be seen for the majority of the people of Bokone Bophirima when the province has proved over and over again that it has made strides in improving the lives of its people. The results of Stats SA's non-financial census of municipalities in August last year were very clear that Bokone Bophirima recorded the second highest provincial increase for the provision of water at 5,8%, only second to Limpopo's 6,9%. It is also Bokone Bophirima that recorded the highest provincial increase for solid waste management at 16,7%. We can mention the provision of houses and other services and the DA would still not be able to match the ANC's record.

The DA has got no plan whatsoever for doing things differently in delivering services to our people and while they continue to attack the ANC, they themselves know that they want to piggyback on the ANC's successes in Bokone Bophirima and claim easy victories. The reality is that the DA only wants to be handed the baton so they can complete the marathon that the ANC started 22 years ago, a marathon that has brought lots of changes in the lives of our people.

These acts of desperation are clearly an admission that the ANC has done a good job and opportunists like the DA want to simply claim the victories, the same way they tried and failed in Tlokwe Local Municipality.

Trying to discredit our ANC Provincial Chairperson and Premier will not gain the DA any voters, just like it did not in all the previous elections in Bokone Bophirima. The DA has never even come close to being an official opposition party in the province. The province continues to be a better place to live in for millions of South Africans, including the same DA leaders who seek to harm the reputation of ANC leaders.

The chorus on the Constitutional Court judgement is nothing new and is almost a meatless bone, which the DA will continue to desperately chew when the majority of South Africans have resolved to accept President Jacob Zuma's apology and move the country forward together with an ANC-led government. It's because there is nothing that the DA can show as their work because they have never run a single municipality in the province.

We want to assure the DA that even if they continue making noises until they become blue like their party colours, they will never run the province of Bokone Bophirima or any of its municipalities. The ANC will again prove through the ballot that it's the only party trusted by the majority of Bokone Bophirima and South African voters.
