FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ON SAPA WIRES STATEMENT ANC WELCOMES THE OUTCOME OF THE PROVINCIAL DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE ON TLOKWE COUNCILLORS

The African National Congress in the North West welcomes the outcome of the Provincial Disciplinary Committee (PDC) on Tlokwe Fourteen (14) Councillors who conspired with the opposition to remove the Mayor of Tlokwe Municipality, in an irregular Council meeting held, yesterday, 02 July 2013. These Councillors action is contrary to the ANC Constitution code of conduct, as contained in Rule 25 of the ANC Constitution.

The 53rd National Conference of the ANC directed all members of the ANC to conduct themselves in keeping with the provisions of the ANC Constitution. As the ANC, we believe the outcome of this disciplinary hearing will serve as a learning curve to comrades who seek to undermine organisational processes and the ANC.

The ANC has adopted a zero tolerance to ill-discipline from its members and will do anything possible to restore the dignity, image and integrity of the ANC. We appeal to affected comrades involved in the Tlokwe disciplinary process to respect the decision of the PDC and follow all the disciplinary processes as contained in the ANC Constitution.

The ANC will therefore in due course occupy the vacancies left by the councillors affected by the outcome of the Disciplinary hearing.
