PELLA, MOSES KOTANE MUNICIPALITY - ANC North West provincial leaders have begun rallying support for next month's ANC 104th birthday celebrations.

Deputy provincial chairperson Sello Lehare told the media during the party's door-to-door campaign in Lethlakane near Pella outside Rustenburg that the party is expecting to fill the 49000-seater Royal Bafokeng Stadium, with additional people watching from big screens outside the venue.

North West hosts the celebrations, which will see President Jacob Zuma delivering the annual January 8 statement, which sets the tone for the party's plans for the year.

"We will be bussing in some 500 people per ward and we have more than 200 wards in our province. Moreover, there will be other guests from outside the province as it is the norm during the ANC birthday celebrations," Lehare said.

He told community members that the party would be mobilising communities throughout December to ensure that it reaches as many people as possible.

"Through this campaign we are also renewing our relationship with our people and reporting back where necessary," Lehare said.

The door-to-door campaign followed the ANC Provincial Executive Committee's (PEC) meeting at the Bakwena-ba-Morare Tribal Administration offices where the party discussed achievements of its programmes in the past year. The ANC also received a presentation on the area's mineral resources and how they could benefit the locals.

"We are looking at which minerals are available so that we can create jobs, which is the biggest challenge in the area," Lehare said.

ANC Women's League Provincial Secretary, Bridgette Mogakwe, said the league was happy that women's businesses will benefit from minerals exploration. "Even those women who are not part of the ANC but are in business, will also be providing services and benefitting on the day," Mogakwe said.

Community member Bakang Moeng said he was elated that ANC leaders paid Pella a visit.

"I am happy that the ANC is also bringing the celebrations of the 104th-year anniversary to our province so that we can also join in wishing the party well," said Moeng.
